Hello Chapter & Area Team Chairs and Treasurers!
My name is April Murphy, Chair of the Greater Phoenix Chapter, one of AFS-USA’s more than 140 chapters. What a year! There we were—all prepared for another great year, in very good financial shape, and excited to provide our incoming kids with great experiences. And then, we went from 26 students last year to 1 student this year. Now, our greatest hope is that AFS-USA can look forward to the 2021-2022 academic year and that the organization will be sustainable for years to come.
As you know, AFS-USA is presently operating on a ‘shoestring’ budget with significantly less than half of its original staff, and they need our support. AFS Arizona Greater Phoenix Chapter realized the best way we can help is to work together with other chapters and area teams to ensure AFS-USA comes through this financial crisis ready for another century of great cultural exchanges.
Therefore, today we are announcing our #ChaptersSupportingAFSUSA campaign.
We invite your chapter or area team to join us in donating to AFS-USA. Given the number of chapters and area teams, and knowing the generosity within our organization, we have set as a goal for this campaign to raise $100,000. This money will make a significant difference to the organization we care about.
The deadline for this campaign is December 1st, 2020. A running list of chapter and area team supporters will be distributed throughout the campaign. To start the ball rolling, the AFS Arizona Greater Phoenix Chapter has donated $5,000! Every donation gets us closer to our goal, and if 10 more chapters join us in contributing at least $2,000, we will match that by contributing another $2,000.
